Game Plan Hints – Defensive Double Team

Today we’re talking about GamePlanning for your Defense – today it’s explaining Defensive Double Team. 

Defensive Double Team is using two defensive pass coverage players to cover one receiver.  When determining who will cover, you must not exceed 50% on any one Receiver.

 Double Team Split End

Strength: If the Split End is the intended receiver.

Weakness: If the Tight End or Flanker is the intended receiver.

Neutral: If the pass is intended for one of the backs.

Double Team Tight End

Strength: If the Tight End is the intended receiver.

Weakness: If the Split End or Flanker is the intended receiver.

Neutral: If the pass is intended for one of the backs.

Double Team Flanker

Strength: If the Flanker is the intended receiver.

Weakness: If the Split End or Tight End is the intended receiver.

Neutral: If the pass is intended for one of the backs.

No Double Team

Strength: If the pass is intended for one of the backs.

Weakness: None.

Neutral: If the Split End, Tight End or Flanker is the intended receiver.
